Ingredients

  • 1 c. THRIVE butter
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. Cane Sugar
  • 2 c. White Flour (All Purpose Unbleached Flour)
  • 1/2 tsp. Iodized Salt
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 2 tbsp. Whole Egg Powder + 1/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Frosting
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 1/4 c. buttermilk
  • 1 lb. Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. In a saucepan bring butter, cocoa and water to boil; cool.
  3. Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl combine sugar, flour, and salt. Pour cocoa mixture over dry ingredients. Mix well.
  4. Combine buttermilk and baking soda. Add to cocoa mixture. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until smooth, scraping bowl constantly.
  5. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Frosting - Melt butter, cocoa, and buttermilk. Mix in vanilla and sugar. Cool and then spread onto cake.
