Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Instant Dry Yeast
  • 1/4 C Warm Water
  • 1 tsp Cane Sugar
  • 6 Tbsp THRIVE Instant Milk
  • 2 C Water
  • 1 Tbsp Shortening Powder, reconstituted
  • 3 tsp Iodized Salt
  • 5 1/2 C White Flour (All Purpose Unbleached Flour)
  • 1/4 C Butter, melted
  • 1 C THRIVE Shredded Colby Jack Cheese
  • 3 Tbsp THRIVE Chopped Onions
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Basil
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Parsley

Directions

  1. Mix yeast, water, and 1 tsp. sugar in a small bowl and let bloom.
  2. In a small pan, heat milk, 2 tbsp. sugar, shortening, and salt until shortening is almost melted, stirring constantly.
  3. Pour into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Stir in 2 cups of the flour; beat well.
  5. Add softened yeast; stir until smooth. Stir in remaining flour.
  6. Knead bread dough on floured surface 6–8 minutes or until smooth.
  7. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  8. Spread dough into a greased 9x13 pan.
  9. Brush melted butter on top and cover with onions, cheese, and seasoning.
  10. Let rise until doubled again.
  11. Bake at 375 for 30–35 minutes, until light brown on edges.
  12. Makes 24 servings.
